The Procession of the Gods
Published on 30 January 2026 • events
On Sunday, February 15th, the children will be involved in creating a "Procession of the Gods" based on the parades that were organized throughout the Renaissance at the main Italian courts and cities and which will take over Palazzo Farnese at Carnival!
We'll begin with a workshop, where each participant will create their own Egyptian, Greek, Etruscan, or Roman hero or deity costume, inspired by the templates provided. Once costumed, the young participants will be invited to playfully explore the museum's rooms and try to recognize the original versions of the masks they wear in the exhibits... will they succeed? Oh well... but the important thing is to have fun!
“Whoever wants to be happy, let him be, for tomorrow is uncertain,” goes the famous refrain of the Canzona di Bacco, the best-known of the Carnival songs created by Lorenzo the Magnificent to accompany the parade of masked floats, directly inspired by ancient mythology.
