On the occasion of the European Days of Archaeology 2026, the Civic Museums of Palazzo Farnese invite the public to explore the city's archaeological heritage through two special events dedicated to the discovery of extraordinary finds and the research that reconstructs the stories of the past.
From Bed to Bed - Sunday, June 14th, 10 a.m.
On the occasion of the European Archaeological Days 2026, you can discover the magnificent bone bed on display at the Civic Museums of Palazzo Farnese, along with the splendid grave goods that link at least two individuals who lived in Placentia during the Republican era. Afterwards, a visit to the Piacenza Civil Hospital, where the chamber tomb that housed the decorated beds is preserved, recently renovated into a suggestive display.
*The transfer from the museum to the hospital can be done on foot or by bike.

“Archaeology in the making” (the archaeological site as a place of knowledge) - Sunday 14 June at 4 pm
What happens before an artifact reaches a museum? What traces emerge from the earth, and how do the stories of the past take shape?
On the occasion of the European Archaeology Days , dedicated to the theme “Archaeology in the Making” , the Archaeological Museum of Palazzo Farnese is offering a tour to illustrate the most interesting archaeological excavations in Piacenza in recent years, the finds of which are currently on display in the Museum.
A tour and conference to delve into the heart of archaeological work : the excavation site. The archaeologists who conducted the fieldwork will explain it firsthand, leading the public through images, discoveries, and artifacts to reveal the journey of archaeology: from the earth to the museum.
